Instantly check if content has been copied online
Plagiarism Checker X is a simple tool for students, teachers, content creators, SEO experts and website owners to check whether their work has been copied by others. According to the developer, it counts institutions such as the University of Ohio, Umass Boston, and Trinity College Dublin amongst its customers.
Fast scanning and comparison of texts
Of course, Plagiarism Checker X can only check those publications that are online (not in print) but this covers over 10 billion possible pages according to the developer so the chances are, if someone has copied your work, Plagiarism Checker X will find it. Plagiarism Checker X supports seven languages – English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, and Portuguese. At the moment, it supports searches using Google and Bing and if either of these two fail, Plagiarism Checker X uses Yahoo.
The interface of Plagiarism Checker X is very simple and clean. You can either paste in the text you want to scan and after scouring the web, it returns any possible matches. You can be as specific as you want from just a few sentences, to a paragraph or an entire page. Alternatively, you can upload documents in most major formats including doc, docx, rtf, PDF, and plain text..
There is no limit to the amount of pages that Plagiarism Checker X can check although it only shows you the first 15 pages of any infringing sites which is more than enough to check whether a site is infringing copyright. For teachers, there’s the possibility to check multiple assignments and see whether students have been cheating in one scan. This Bulk Checking feature is one of the most useful features of Plagiarism Checker X saving the hassle of checking large amounts of data one by one.
Easy to read reports
Plagiarism Checker X gives a color coding rating based on how similar the content is to the original. These range from green for those that may match, to red for those that are very similar. Anything that is red with a score of 100 is an exact replica. If you need more detail, there are 3 different reports - Simple, Selective, and Cross Comparison. Simple allows you to compare the plagiarism score of one document against multiple others, Selective allows you to specify reports, and finally Cross Comparison finds all possible duplicate content by checking each document side-by-side with the rest of the files.
For this last option, Plagiarism Checker X gives you an HTML or DOC format report that highlights where it has found plagiarized sentences and identified sources. The way it presents reports side-by-side makes it very easy to see where text has been plagiarized. Even better for teachers, or those processing large numbers of documents, is the bulk checker which gives you a side-by-side percentage of how similar the documents are to each other. Note that you can also check documents offline – once scanned, you don’t need to be online to continue analyzing the results.
The developer claims that Plagiarism Checker X is safer than other similar solutions that store your data on a server first and then perform a scan. Plagiarism Checker doesn’t actually store any of your data – it simply processes it and compares it with any possible matches.
A useful tool to check for plagiarism
Plagiarism Checker X is a quick and easy way to check whether the content you’ve written or are checking has been copied.
User reviews about Plagiarism Checker X

It has a lot of good aspects. The side-by-side comparison feature was especially good for checking older write-ups or newer edited versions of articles when submitting them to journals for publications. The highlighted view also made it easier to know what needed to be fixed. There is a document limit but on an individual level it is not much of an issue. More

Leaving everything else aside for a second, the highlighted reports that you can download are the most useful. They work great for your future reference when you are reviewing something you wrote. Lot better than having to scan your document again and again to see the results. The extensive scanning function is great too, really good for your peace of mind that the scan was thorough and accurate. I'd prefer an online version as well but other than that all good. More

A life saver during university: easy to understand and the highlighted reports help in finding the source to fix any plagiarism that is picked up as well as downloading the actual report for future reference. More
